What: Ron and Eno being brothers, re: K Return of Kings 10
Status: feels half finished and is half unfinished, will probably add to this some other time
Notes: This is actually the first time I wrote them being brothers! Also spoilers for ep 10 but if you're reading this, you've probably seen me sobbing about it on Plurk.

He didn't quite know how to feel after that. Everything after "they fired the captain" was all a blur. Tatsuya heard Andy protesting but it seemed to be in a different time, place and universe entirely. He just stood there, staring blankly at his hands where they rested on his lap and allowed his more vocal clansman to speak for them. The implications were terrifying. Was the Green Clan more influential than any of them thought it would be? Part of him was relieved he didn't have any tea as doubtless the cup might have fallen from his hand eons ago. It was only after they were dismissed that he finally found his footing. But when he stood, it was on shaky, unsteady feet as if in his haze he'd forgotten how to walk altogether. "Fuse," he murmured, hands steadying himself as he slipped out of his chair and headed for the door. "I kind of need to be alone in the dorm for a while. Do you mind?" Whatever Fuse said afterward, he didn't quite understand either. Everything seemed to go in one ear and out the other.
He finally got to their room on pure muscle memory as his mind was still both numb and buzzing with activity all at once. Was the captain really gone? Had they really fired him? What would happen to Scepter 4 now? Would they still be the Blue clan without their king around? These details with kings and slates didn't make 100% sense to him to begin with but he had to admit -- for a job he'd only taken to fund his hobbies, he found himself growing rather fond of their little "family". While not as close knit as the red clan, there was a bond between him and the rest of the squad. It was something he'd miss if they ended up disbanding over something like this. What now? What was left for them now?
Without a word, Tatsuya slumped into his seat and reached over the desk for his phone.
--
"They let him go, aniki."
"What're you talking about, mate? Something happened at work?"
Tatsuya straightened up, eyes closing as he raised his voice slightly. "They fired him! They fired the captain!" he replied, his words causing the truth to sink in at last. For a moment, all he could hear was his own breathing and the way his desperation echoed off the walls.
"What? Why in the buggering hell did they do that?!"
"I don't know, okay? I don't know!" he cried out, finally realizing that his voice had started to break at that outburst.
"That's.…that's bollocks, that is." Tatsuya finally heard Ronald sigh back after a rather pregnant pause. In the background, he could hear paper shuffling.
"...Ron. If you're at work, I could call you back later."
"No, no it's alright. Just finishing up a few reports, is all. There's a good thing about all this though!"
"What is?"
"Least now you could ask him out without the awkwardness of him being your boss, eh?"
"Aniki please be serious for once!"
"I was being serious!"
Again another pause, one for Tatsuya to sigh loudly into the receiver and for Ron to mutter out a sheepish apology.
"Look at it this way, mate." Ronald finally said after a few minutes. "They just fired him, alright? Doesn't mean he isn't king anymore, eh? Listen, I've got to run but… come over for dinner, alright? I'll have the kids set an extra place. They'll be happy to see you, I promise!"
"Besides..." he added, his voice finally lowering and allowing a hint of concern to seep through. "You sound like you need it."
And with that, there was a decisive click as the call ended, leaving Tatsuya alone with his thoughts and the dial tone of his phone.
They just fired him.
It doesn't mean he isn't king anymore.
Maybe his brother was being serious.
